‘Shark Dive Fiji’ – world famous shark dive experience with up to 8 different species of sharks in close encounters. Amazing variety of sharks from small white tips to huge Tiger Sharks – the Fiji Shark Dive will be one of the most memorable dives you have ever experienced!
Aquarium – Much like its sister dive (see above) offers a steeper wall that drops away even more dramatically. Schooling fusiliers and chevron barracuda cruise along the wall and large snapper hang in the swell along the top of the reef.
Fantasea – A gorgeous wall dive near one of our favorite surf spots. This wall is renowned for sighting of some of the bigger players – white tip sharks, grey reef sharks, silvertip sharks, eagle rays, barracuda, and jacks cruise along the wall. ‘Golden Arches’ – An infamous dive site consisting of dozens of coral heads covered in so much life. Almost too much to take in on 10 dives let alone 1 See sea snakes sunbathing on the surface, variety of angel fish, bannerfish, cleaner shrimp, sweetlips, boxfish, fusiliers, and so much more. ‘Ponti’s Playground’ – A diver’s paradise – this series of pinnacles has everything! ‘Tasu Wreck’ – A series of spectacular coral heads riddled with tunnels and caverns. Covered in soft corals of every imaginable color! Great dive site for macro-photography. This is a stunning dive site that enchants all visiting divers. You will come across nudibranchs, lionfish, leopard sharks, sea snakes, clown triggerfish, sweetlips, shrimp, just keep the imagination going…. ‘Twilight Zone’ – What we consider to be one of the best dive sites. A 45 minute boat ride takes you to the remote location of Frigates Passage. The coral cover and health of the wall at Frigates is second to none. Giant gorgonian fans and ancient black coral bushes offer shelter to hundreds of fish species. Subject to some pretty exciting currents, this is a dive for experienced divers. The seemingly endless wall offers an excellent 2 or 3 tank destination. This dive thrills the senses with the contrast of dark blue ocean against white sandy bottom; rock formations scattered with hard and soft coral; canyons and cuts to explore. Reef sharks, turtles, barracuda and jacks. BREAK DIRECTION: S to N WINDS: W, NW, N, NE, E, ESE, SE SWELL DIRECTIONS: ALL SWELLS TIDES: 4-5HRS EACH SIDE OF HIGH
‘SHIFTIES’ – deep water pyramid like take-off. An outside point of the Reef picks up all the swell and will pick up more swell than any other break around. It’s powerful and thick. When everywhere else has very little swell and waves there will always be a wave at Shifties. It can be surfed up to 1.5 hours before low tide. Right hander with a first bottom turn and preferably cut-back straight into the wave once of the pyramid and can produce a long run if connecting. It can produce very large waves at take-off and has one of the biggest take-offs of all waves AT Waidroka. IF NOTHING ELSE IS WORKING SHIFTIES WILL TEND TO PICK UP MORE SWELL. TRICKY TO FIND THE RIGHT SPOT FOR TAKE-OFF THERE IS A LOT OF PADDLING AROUND, BUT CAN BE A LOT OF FUN AND ALSO PRODUCE EXTREMELY BIG PEAKS DEEP. ‘J’s’ – a super hollow, fast and barreling right hand wave that breaks from 2’ to 6’. It works best around the high tide with off-shore or cross-offshore winds from NNE to WSW. It likes a bit of west in the swell to run all the way down the reef. It’s a fun and fast right-hander which gives you the immediate pleasure of being able to ‘rail-it’ into a barrel and get to overhead size making it a great option for our regular footers looking for barrels! SUPER FUN – HOLLOW VERY FAST BARREL. WHEN J’S IS ON IT’S ONE OF THE FASTEST RIGHTS IN FIJI AND IS A PERFECT PLACE FOR BARRELS. DON’T SIT TOO DEEP AS ITS HARD TO MAKE AND FINDING THE RIGHT TAKE-OFF SPOT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MAKING MANY BARRELS TO SPENDING A LOT OF TIME IN WHITE WATER BEING SWEPT INSIDE. DON’T GET TOO DEEP AT LOWER TIDES AS IT GETS SHALLOW FAST. PADDLE STRAIGHT FOR THE CHANNEL WHEN TOO DEEP INSIDE AND MAKE YOUR WAY AROUND. BREAK DIRECTION: ESE to WNW WINDS: WSW, W, NW, N, NNE SWELL DIRECTIONS: S, SSW, SW, SSE TIDES: 2.5 HRS EACH SIDE OF HIGH
